You can use regular chocolate chips or cut up your favourite chocolate bar into small pieces.You can also add dried fruits (dried cranberries, dried apricots, dried red cherries) in the scones. Otherwise just leave out the dried fruits completely.Be sure not to over mix the dough or you will end up with tough, biscuit like scones. Just stir until the dough comes together (add more buttermilk or flour as necessary).Lightly floured cookie cutter to prevent dough from sticking to cookie cutter.Not using an egg in this recipe makes a lighter scones.
